Youth-Caused Fires Continue To Prove Deadly
Rock Bottom Restaurants Raise Funds To Curb This Deadly Trend.
Children playing with fire in the United States cause nearly 400 deaths, over 3,000 injuries, and over $280 million in lost property each year. And most often, the victim of child-set fires are the children themselves. These fires can often be prevented when community based intervention programs exist.
SOS FIRES: Youth Intervention Programs supports and promotes the development of community based programs to combat this deadly behavior. They provide training, consulting, and resources for fire service and mental health partners developing intervention programs.
The Rock Bottom Restaurant in Portland, Oregon has chosen SOS FIRES: Youth Intervention Programs as the beneficiary of their 2nd annual fund raising event. This year, over $2,000 will be donated to SOS FIRES Board members at their gala event to be held at:
6 PM on Monday April 13th
Rock Bottom Restaurant - 210 SW Morrison Street
Rock Bottom Restaurant provides this national promotion in order to honor and appreciate the local heroes in every community - firefighters. The proceeds support fire-related charities in the different cities in which they are located. For example, the Seattle Rock Bottom supports the Northwest Burn Foundation, and location like Milwaukee and Bethesda support local fire department equipment purchases and educational programs.
